And the winner of Big Gig's 2020 Season Finale was.......

And the winner was... Mainely Succulents!

Last Tuesday evening we were FINALLY able to host our 2020 Season Finale! It looked a little different with all of the entrepreneurs pitching over Zoom and Facebook Live, but the quality of the pitches remained as excellent as ever!

The first entrepreneurs of the night were Christian Krohg & Katharine Dougherty of Easy Eats, a college campus food delivery service FOR students BY students.  Second to go was Brian Ross of Chef Brian's Kitchen, a non-profit which provides nutritious, specialized meals to cancer patients. Third up was Lauren Tuell of Mainely Succulents, a plant shop experience that offers "Plant & Sips," succulents for weddings, workshops, and more. The fourth and final entrepreneur of the evening was Kim Slininger of Spirit Warrior, an equine therapy program that helps rehabilitate individuals suffering with PTSD & Autism.

As always, we had three seasoned business professionals judging the event and giving constructive feedback to the entrepreneurs. Our panel of seasoned business people included Jeff Perkins, CEO of Portland Pie Company; Patrick Breeding, CEO/Co-Founder of Marin Skincare and former Big Gig Finale Winner; and Jaclyn Silk, Vice President, Regional Market Manager of Bangor Savings Bank.

While the judges deliberated, Mary Wichenbach, Founder of Tirdy Works and star of the truTV reality show of the same name, talked to our virtual audience about how she became the moose poop lady, creator of customer favorites like "Poo Poo Clock" and "Crappy Critters," and now a reality TV star! She was hilarious and one of the most engaging guest speakers we've ever had!

After the audience and judges voted for their favorite entrepreneurs, Lauren Tuell of Mainely Succulents was crowned the 2020 Seasonal Finale winner and received $5000! Thank you to Bangor Savings Bank for the $5000 in prize funding, our other awesome sponsors, to our fantastic judges, and everyone that tuned in to watch!

Lastly, our 2020/2021 season begins virtually on November 17th, so if you know anyone with a business idea or early-stage startup, please encourage them to apply by November 6th!
