GO Lab Wins Season Finale!
Tuesday's Finale was such a great end to our Big Gig season! Over 100 people packed the Foster Center for Student Innovation at UMaine to watch our four regular season winners pitch their businesses for the $1,500 grand prize! Joshua Henry started the evening pitching his company, GO Lab Inc., an R&D company that has created an eco-friendly, wood fiber, insulation board. Dylan Veilleux then pitched his product, The Tea Pillow, which is a head pillow that uses tea leaves to relieve and calm the mind. After that, Maddie Purcell pitched her business, Fyood Kitchen, an Iron Chef-meets-Paint Nite cooking event for adventurous foodies. The fourth and final pitcher of the evening was Derek Porter who pitched The House of Meeples, a board game cafe to be located in downtown Bangor.
After some great feedback from our Big Wig judges, Susan Hunter, Jen Baroletti, and April Gleason, the audience voted for their favorite, and Josh Henry was crowned this season's Finale winner! We were also fortunate to have Chris Kilgour, Founder and CEO of C&L Aviation, as our "Big Rig" guest speaker. Chris spoke about how he started his entrepreneurial life at the age of 10, came to run his global aviation company, and the lessons he learned along the way. Thank you so much to all who attended, and we'll see you in September for our first event next season!
